Reconsideration on the man and animal relationship - uni project

Through detouring the space, our team tried to find out what the lived space and spatial practice of this market were. The research includes the history, architectures and the people in Smithfield market, wife selling sexism meat curving male dominate.

Based on what we have in the research, I decide to find out the hidden ideology which guides or determines the life in Smithfield market by analyzing the ordinary people's everyday practices. Through out our research, i’m quite interested in the human and animal relationship part. As Smithfield market is Britain’s biggest and oldest wholesale meat market, there is a unique relation between man and the domestic animals which provide meat for human consumption. When talking about human and animal relationship, lots of people think that people should protect wild animals, be good to pets but few notice that domestic animals should be included among these relations. This is a real controversial idea. 

Since all the animals are living creatures as well humans beings, they should be treated as equal. Every living beings have their own values, so do every species of animals. In the case of Smithfield market, is domestic animals regarded as non-animals? Then what are they? In the eye of butchers, are they farm products, commodities or living beings?

My design project aim at to compare the human and domestic animals to figure out how much similar we are. If we are pretty much the same why we treat them as products. I pick man and pig as the compare examples. 

The ethical bases for the existing unequal rela-tion between butchers and domestic animals and for the speciesism’s equal relation among all lives, we are forced to make a reconsideration on man and domestic animal. I'm not a vegetarian and I'm also not trying to persuade people to become vegetarian. We are supposed to treat domestic animals, though not as equal but at least as part of the eco-family, not just as lifeless commodities or meat providers.
